Hosting Indonesia Semiconductor Summit 2026, DKST ITB Facilitates the Launch of Indonesia Chip Design Collaborative Center (ICDeC)
Bandung, dkst.itb.ac.id – The Directorate of Science and Technology Area (DKST) ITB hosted the Indonesia Semiconductor Summit 2026, which took place on January 29-30, 2026, at the ITB Innovation Park Bandung Technopolis, Gedebage.
This strategic event marked a historic milestone with the inauguration of the Indonesia Chip Design Collaborative Center (ICDeC) facility, a collaborative initiative between the government, industry, and academia to build the independence of the nation's semiconductor industry.
The event was attended by key stakeholders, including the Minister of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia Dr. Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, the Rector of ITB Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, representatives from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, and Danantara.

In his remarks, the Rector of ITB, Prof. Tatacipta Dirgantara, reaffirmed ITB's commitment to supporting the downstreaming of microelectronics technology. “Building a national semiconductor industry cannot be done alone. It requires sustainable collaboration between academia, industry, and government. ICDeC at the ITB Innovation Park is projected to become a strategic hub to enhance national chip design capacity and accelerate research,” said Prof. Tatacipta.
The Minister of Industry, Dr. Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, officially launched ICDeC, marked by the signing ceremony of an inauguration plaque. In his presentation, the Minister expressed optimism regarding the performance of the non-oil and gas manufacturing industry, which grew by 5.58% in the third quarter of 2025, surpassing national economic growth.

“ICDeC is a follow-up to the Hannover Messe 2023 agreement. This facility is here to strengthen the ecosystem, produce human resources in chip design, and reduce technology development costs so that Indonesia can enter the Global Value Chain,” emphasized Agus Gumiwang.
Global support also came from the Senior Director of the Human and Social Development Sector Office at ADB, Ayako Inagaki. She highlighted three crucial pillars of investment for Indonesia: human capital development, research and development (R&D), and the innovation ecosystem.

As the host, DKST ITB facilitated the entire series of events, ranging from conferences to technical workshops. The presence of ICDeC within the ITB Innovation Park area is expected to serve as a magnet for startups, researchers, and global industries such as Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Cadence, as well as partners from Taiwan and Europe to collaborate in developing future technologies.
