Strengthening Technology Downstreaming: PT ASIX Inaugurates AI Joint Lab and Launches LIBRA at ITB Innovation Park

BANDUNG, dkst.itb.ac.id – The ITB Innovation Park area once again served as a strategic meeting point between academia and industry through a series of events marking the inauguration of the new PT ASIX Indonesia Cerdas (ASIX) office and the launch of its intelligent assistant product on Monday (11/5/2026). The agenda included the opening of the AI Joint Lab on the 12th floor, followed by the launch ceremony of LIBRA, an enterprise-standard artificial intelligence (AI) assistant designed to automate corporate business workflows.

The presence of these operational facilities and the product launch from this industry entity reinforces the role of the ITB Directorate of Science and Technology Area as an ecosystem enabler for digital innovation. By providing innovation space within the ITB Innovation Park building, the institution facilitates the acceleration of technology downstreaming born from the close collaboration between Sinarmas, China Mobile, and the expertise of the academic community.

The event began with the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the AI Joint Lab on the 12th floor. This significant milestone was led by the ITB Vice Rector for Research and Innovation, Prof. Ir. Lavi Rizki Zuhal, Ph.D., alongside ASIX President Director Andrie Tjioe, CEO of DSST Mas Gemilang Marlo Budiman, and Head of the Indonesian Unit for China Mobile International, Belinda Liu.

In his keynote speech just before the facility's inauguration, Prof. Lavi reaffirmed the urgency of commercializing research activities within higher education. He explained that while publishing in scientific journals serves as a form of quality assurance for research, the ultimate goal must be downstreaming so that solutions can be tangibly utilized by society and the business world.

“When it comes to downstreaming, an institution cannot do it alone and must collaborate with industry partners. That is the ecosystem we aim to build at ITB Innovation Park,” said Prof. Lavi. This collaborative ecosystem is considered ideal because the industry can directly tap into superior human resources from the campus, including professors and students, to direct daily research toward measurable innovation.

Following the inauguration of the laboratory and new office, the agenda continued with the launch ceremony of the intelligent digital assistant, LIBRA, designed for advanced operational needs. Andrie explained that this platform is more than just a typical administrative tool; it is a secure digital partner that integrates cutting-edge AI, allowing corporate teams to operate with greater agility and focus on strategically valuable work.

Specifically, the LIBRA digital ecosystem is equipped with various superior automation features to reduce team workloads. The innovations offered include an AI Assistant to answer complex queries, a Document Translator and Summarizer to condense reports, and Meeting Transcription to turn meeting conversations into structured notes, complete with an Image Generator and multilingual dubbing capabilities.

The adoption of this corporate-scale AI also received a positive response as it aligns with the government's digital transformation vision. The Head of the Data & Information Bureau of the Presidential Advisory Council of the Republic of Indonesia, M. Arfan Sahib Sali Kando, stated that applicable AI utilization is essential for increasing organizational efficiency, strengthening managerial decision-making, and boosting Indonesia's competitiveness in the digital economy era.

The performance of this digital product is also supported by a solid technical foundation from a global service provider. Senior Solutions Manager at China Mobile JiuTian Company, Patrick Hu, ensured that the enterprise infrastructure used is capable of providing high levels of stability and security to address the challenges raised by ITB Telecommunications Engineering lecturer Dr. Ian Josef Matheus Edward regarding the importance of AI solutions relevant to the future of the industry.

Seeing the strong synergy established between academia, technology providers, and industry players, the ITB Innovation Park is projected to continue fostering various significant breakthroughs. The presence of this research center and the launch of the LIBRA digital assistant ultimately reaffirm ASIX's commitment to delivering global-standard technology solutions, while serving as a concrete step in collaboration from Bandung to the global innovation stage.
