Collaboration Between ITB and Boeing in BUILD 2026, Supporting the Development of the National Aerospace Industry

Bandung, dkst.itb.ac.id – Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) through the Directorate of Science and Technology Area (DKST) in collaboration with Boeing officially launched the Boeing University Innovation Leadership Development (BUILD) Indonesia 2026 program on Monday, May 4, 2026, at the East Hall, ITB Ganesha Campus.

This program is an initiative in local talent development involving students, recent graduates, and early-stage startup founders in Indonesia. Through BUILD, participants are encouraged to develop innovative solutions across several main focus areas, namely aerospace & defense, social impact, advanced technology and innovation, and sustainability.

In its implementation, DKST ITB plays a role in supporting the innovation ecosystem by bringing together various stakeholders, ranging from academics and startups to industry players. Through this role, DKST not only facilitates collaboration but also drives research downstreaming so that the ideas and innovations generated can be further developed into solutions relevant to industry needs.

The Rector of ITB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, M.T., stated that this collaboration is a form of synergy between universities and industry in driving sustainable innovation. “Through BUILD, participants do not only develop ideas but also receive direct mentoring from the industry up to the implementation stage,” he said.

The BUILD program is designed with an experiential learning approach that includes workshops, mentoring, bootcamps, and incubation. The program runs from May to September 2026 and will conclude with a final presentation session and an award ceremony. The top three teams will receive total funding of USD 12,500 (150 million rupiah) along with ongoing development support for six months at ITB.

Managing Director of Boeing Indonesia, Indra Duivenvoorde, expressed that BUILD is part of Boeing's long-term commitment to supporting human resource development and technological innovation in Indonesia. Through this collaboration, Boeing provides access to a global network, mentorship, and industry insights. Meanwhile, DKST ITB helps ensure the creation of an integrated innovation ecosystem to foster talented innovators who are ready to contribute to the development of the national aerospace industry.
