Two ITB Startups, LeadAI and Bell Living Labs, Represent Indonesia at the 2026 Australia Awards

Australia, dkst.itb.ac.id – Two startups fostered by the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), LeadAI and Bell Living Labs, were selected as participants in the Short Course: Advancing Research into Commercialisation, organized through the 2026 Australia Awards Indonesia program.

The Short Course: Advancing Research into Commercialisation is a program aimed at increasing participants' capacity in developing research results into innovations that have commercial value and provide an impact on both society and industry. This program also serves as a platform for innovators to learn various approaches to driving the downstreaming of research results through collaboration with the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.

The program selection process was highly competitive, involving more than 500 applicants. From that number, only 25 participants were declared to have passed to join the short course series. LeadAI and Bell Living Labs were the only startups representing Indonesia in that group of participants.

During the program, participants gained insights into the commercialization process of research results, the development of technology-based innovation, and business scale-up strategies to expand technology implementation in various sectors. In addition, this program also provided an opportunity for participants to discuss and exchange experiences with academics, practitioners, and industry players in developing research-based innovations.

The participation of LeadAI and Bell Living Labs in the 2026 Australia Awards Indonesia reflects the potential of ITB's research-based startups in developing internationally competitive innovations. The experience gained through this program is expected to support the downstreaming process of research results, strengthen technological development, and open up collaboration opportunities that encourage wider innovation implementation for society and industry.

This achievement is also in line with the commitment of the Bandung Institute of Technology to strengthening the technology-based innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem through the development of startups capable of transforming research results into solutions that are relevant to the needs of society and the industrial world.
