Bandung Startup Pitching Day 2024: Building a Bridge Between Innovation and Investment

Bandung, dkst.itb.ac.id – Six leading startup ecosystem entities in Bandung, namely The Greater Hub SBM ITB, DKST ITB, Startup Bandung, Geek Hunter, and Block71 Bandung, proudly organized the prestigious "Bandung Startup Pitching Day (BSPD) 2024" event once again. The event, which took place on December 11, 2024, at the CRCS ITB building, marked the 10th edition of BSPD, a platform that has become an icon in driving the growth of the startup ecosystem in Indonesia.

BSPD 2024 successfully attracted the attention of 20 prominent investors from home and abroad, and was attended by hundreds of participants consisting of entrepreneurs, startup founders, academics, and technology innovation enthusiasts. This event not only served as a venue for 20 selected startups to present their innovative ideas in front of investors but also became a collaborative space bringing together various key actors in the startup ecosystem. Participants had the opportunity to learn directly from industry experts, expand their business networks, and gain valuable insights to develop their ventures.

Dr. Dina Dellyana, Head of The Greater Hub SBM ITB Incubator, along with Dr. Irwan Gumilar as Director of Entrepreneurship and Business Incubator of DKST ITB enthusiastically opened this event. In her remarks, Dr. Dina emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration to support the growth of locally and globally competitive startups. "BSPD is not just about pitching or seeking funding alone, but also about building a mutually supportive ecosystem and opening new opportunities for innovation," said Dr. Dina. Dr. Irwan added DKST's commitment through the ITB Innovation Park to provide an innovation and startup ecosystem to support the commercialization of innovation outcomes and the growth of startups. He introduced the ITB Innovation Park, ITB's newest facility managed by DKST to provide collaborative workspaces, as well as integrated incubation services aimed at becoming the center of the national startup ecosystem.

Out of dozens of startups applying for this second wave of BSPD, the 20 best startups with brilliant business ideas focusing on technology as a solution to real problems were selected to advance to the live pitching session. Each startup was given a maximum of five minutes for presentation, followed by a Q&A session with investors. They come from various sectors, such as ICT, Robotics, Agritech, and there are also many startups engaged in waste management or eco-technology and the creative industry sector. The 20 pitching participants included: AEROFARMS, Airi Indonesia, Algatek Karbon Nusantara, Biojel, Biomicrofarm, Cultination, Curaweda, Dit Réveille, eHealth.co.id, GoodFarm Indonesia, HidupMedia, Marketplace Insight, Nyampih Indonesia, Opsfood, PHD Indonesia, Skuling, SLASHPOS, thegoodparent.id, Valast Indonesia, and Vettalk Indonesia.

On the other hand, the presence of 20 prominent investors from home and abroad such as: ADB Ventures, Antler, BNI Ventures, BRI Ventures, East Ventures, Ecoxyztem, Endeavor, Enterprise Singapore, ERIA, HASAN VC, Indigo, MDI Ventures, Moon Creative Lab, SPIL Ventures, Spiral Ventures, Sweef Capital, Telkomsel Ventures, Thrihill, TMI Ventures, and ⁠K/M, further strengthened the goal of this event as a platform to connect innovation with investment.

At the end of the session, awards were also given to four startups with the four best categories. Selected based on the judging scores were Skuling for The Most Innovation, De Réveille for The Best Pitch, and two other startups, Algatek Karbon Nusantara and Curaweda for The Most Impactful and The Most Marketable, respectively.

Bandung Startup Pitching Day proves that technology-based innovation in Indonesia continues to grow, and with increasingly strong support from various parties, Bandung is ready to become a world-class center for technological innovation capable of competing globally.
